Back in 2009, not too long after I received my first DSLR, I considered trying to submit to stock photography sites. I did not think I was good enough. How could I possibly be good enough when I had just started out? I have always had an eye for composition, and, after 6 years with a DSLR, I decided it was time to try my hand at submitting to stock. I thought, MAYBE I would be good enough now. So, in the summer I applied for istock and I passed all their tests and submission tests. I was thrilled but, still not 100% sold that I would be able to sell my work. I began submitting images I have taken specifically for stock submission… nothing sold very quickly… after 1 month of submitting images, I decided to start trying to submit older images…. To my surprise… my images started to sell!!! My very first image I sold was a shot of apples I took during a workshop I had taken back in 2009 with award-winning photographer,Doug Wilson.
This particular workshop took us to the St. Jacob’s market in St. Jacob’s. The workshop was on composition and the photography colour wheel. I have only sold about 21 images to date but I am thrilled with that!! This image
was taken during that same workshop by Doug Wilson at St Jacob’s market. It is currently my most popular image having been viewed over 12 times and sold 2 times.
Here are a few other images that have sold on istock that I took years before. I had no idea if they would even accept them let alone that anyone would buy these images!
This image was taken while on a hike with my friend Jan at the Rockwood Conservation Area in 2009!
This image also sold and was even older!! I took this image while hiking at Mount Nemo Conservation area in Burlington, Ont. in Set 2008. Only 1 month after I received my DSLR as a birthday gift! Who would have known?
I always liked this image… but I never thought someone would want to buy it!! And yet, this image taken in my bathroom in 2010 sold within a few days of being uploaded!
I love textures and macro photography… I always have. But again, I never thought this image taken in spring of 2010 while on an excursion visiting an abandoned house with my good friend Jan, would ever sell… and yet it did!
I’m so glad I took this photo of this merry-go-round that used to be in the park beside my home. They took it out since the photo was taken in 2010. Also, it sold on istock!
This image was taken on a bright and sunny day this past August. I thought it might be a possible desired image for Halloween if I edited it in black and white…. I was right as it sold immediately!
I love doing portraits of people though. That is my passion. Glamour, Boudoir, Environmental Portraiture,Beauty and Creative Portraiture.
Here are the people images that have sold for me so far on istock.
I am fortunate to have quite a few willing models for my istock imagery and submissions. These 2 kids came into my studio and have been a huge hit for me on istock and everywhere I share them! They were amazing! I can hardly wait to work with them once again!
